The Australian Government, through the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs, together with State and Territory governments and the non-government sector, is developing National Standards for Out of Home Care.
The development of these National Standards is an important action under the National Framework for Protecting Australia's Children 2009-2020.Further information about the National Framework.
The guiding objective of the National Standards is that children living in Out of Home Care receive the same opportunities to develop and become healthy children and young people as those children and young people not in Out of Home Care.
KPMG has been engaged to assist with the project. A paper has been developed to generate discussion and ideas on issues to be considered in developing National Standards.
Individuals and organisations are invited to provide feedback to guide the development of the National Standards.
Feedback, comments and/or enquiries, should be emailed to National Standards for Out of Home Care (contactus@nationalstandardsforoutofhomecare.com).
Feedback should be lodged by 5pm (AEST) on 26 March 2010.
Responses must contain the submitting person/organisation's contact details, including email address.
The National Standards for Out of Home Care will be finalised in 2010
